After all the prep gearing Sam up for his “first day at Seneca Elementary school” I guess I forgot something. When I went to pick him up, he stood there looking sad, refusing to come to me. I pulled him aside and said “Sam, what’s wrong?” (Hilary, his EIA & Erica looking on)
Sam: I don’t want to leave.
Mom: Oh honey, you get to come back again tomorrow.
Sam: Oh, okay. (end of story, sadness erased)
So I guess I neglected to tell him, even thought it was his first day, there would be many more to follow. More precisely, every school day for at least the next 13 years! Turns out now I’m pretty sure he thought this was a one day event, since Hilary told me that at the end of class, Sam went up to Ms. Jones and said “Thanks, I had so much fun today!” like it was a special field trip or something!
I’m glad he liked it. If that’s our biggest problem for the year, that he was disappointed at the thought of not going back, I’ll take it!
Happy first day Sam!
Love Mom, who still has so much to learn, and I know you will help teach me!
