So we had an extra 1/2 hour before Rebounders tonight, so we stopped for special treat, ice cream.
Sam: Can I have blueberry ice cream?
Max: I want chocolate!
Sam ends up with vanilla on a cone, with rainbow sprinkles as requested.
Max goes to work to devour every bite of his chocolate cone. Sam begins slowly scraping the sprinkles off with a spoon and wiping them on a napkin and takes the tiniest bites of ice cream alone, “Yum, it’s so (searching for the right word) good, it’s so cold” trying so hard to say what everyone else thinks, it’s so good, but he clearly doesn’t think so, but wanting to fit in. I scrape every single sprinkle off his cone, and he takes two more minuscule bites and then asks me “Mom would you like to have my ice cream? I’m all done?” Brian eats the cone, and we head to the car, Max covered from nose to elbow in chocolate, Sam without a trace. Sam gets his treat in the car, fruities and a rice krispie treat, but hey, he did his best & tried to go along with the rest of us and enjoy it as much as we did. Next time, I’ll just take him some blueberries and maybe some broccoli so he’ll be as happy as we are with our treats.
